This is the beginning. Entry one.
Someone suggested that ideas are living, conscious entities of their own, and that you don't "have" an idea, an idea comes to you. And if you don't use that idea? It moves on to someone else who is willing to be brave enough to answer the call. This is an idea that I have allowed to pass me by time and time again since I was in my mid-twenties. I'm in my early-fifties now, so that's indicative of how long I've been batting this idea ball around without ever really getting it off the ground. Let's talk about it.
I've ALWAYS wanted a magic shop. I don't know if I'll ever have a brick-and-mortar shop (a girl can dream), but I definitely want an online space to allow myself to supernova my spirituality. I thought I'd begin with a digital book of shadows / grimoire, couple that with my Amazon Affiliate status, and launch where I am with what I have and build from here.
Step One - Conceptualize
I've known for a while what I wanted, the core of it - a magic shop. But what does it look like? What is the brand name? (I came up with Mystic Muse.) What are the brand colors? (I used Chat GPT and some instinctual insights to create a full color palette with hex codes that I could use throughout the website.). I've been imagining something different than links or buttons - so I envisioned doorways. Not just any doorways, but purple doors, with a bit of trivia at the bottom that witches paint their doors purple to identify one another. This gave me the idea to add a kiss of trivia at the bottom of every page. A little gem to pick up along your trail.
Step Two - Take Action
- Cleared space: Deleted every single page and post on the current website that I was trying to build that did not align with my current path. I knew I needed to build something, but wasn't caught up to speed yet so I started tinkering with ideas. It wasn't going well. Today, I scrapped it all and went back to the drawing board with new vision.
- Designed Brand Name and Colors: While the domain name is WendiLynn.com and I've decided to work with what I have, I added "The Mystic Muse," which suits me perfectly. I've always had a pull to that deep blue/purple/blurple/indigo color, so I knew I wanted it to be my main color. I think it adds a magical element - but I took it a step further. I'm me, so I decided to use color psychology and color magic to choose colors that evoke the feelings I want to experience when I'm spending time in this cozy digital space.
To create the color palette for Mystic Muse, I combined color psychology with magical symbolism to guide the mood I wanted my space to hold:
Blurple Twilight (#4A3DC0
) is the anchor—deep, rich, and mystical. Psychologically, it blends blue’s calm focus with purple’s intuitive depth. Magically, it connects to the third eye and crown chakras, enhancing spiritual clarity and insight.
Parchment Cream (#F7F4EF
) is soft and warm, like candlelight on old paper. It comforts the eyes during long reads. Energetically, it acts as a neutral vessel, holding intention without influencing it—like a sacred page waiting to be written on.
Dusty Lavender (#8A7DC0
) brings subtle magic. It’s calm and mature, not too sweet. In color magic, it’s often used for clarity, dreamwork, and maintaining safe spiritual boundaries. It holds a space of quiet power.
Sage Green (#64725F
) grounds everything. This color evokes wisdom, healing, and natural growth. It’s tied to the heart chakra and used magically for prosperity through steady effort, and for protection—especially when paired with actual sage.
Lunar Silver (#B7B6D8
) is modern yet reflective. It aligns with feminine energy and the moon’s rhythm, making it ideal for calls to action or areas where subtle lunar guidance is needed. It whispers rather than shouts.
Moon-Silver (Soft) (#D6D1E8
) feels like stardust. Light, airy, and mist-like, it carries a sense of quiet enchantment. It’s often used for psychic shielding and gentle illumination—just enough glow to guide the way without overwhelming it.
- Set Theme and Layout: This was a challenge and took me several hours. I don't know how to use Blogger, so I've been working with Chat GPT on how to choose a single column layout, how to add gadgets, and changing theme colors to match my new color palette.
- Created Blog Pages:
- Home
- Timely Magic
- Moon Magic
- Crafted the Moon Magic pillar post, but it still needs edited/polished/photos. I'm in the process of adding affiliate links now for moon-related merchandise.
- Solar Magic
- Wheel of the Year
- Days of the Week
- Earthy Magic
- Divination
- Enchanted Elements
- About / Contact
- Created Images for several of the pages
- Will continue building images/pages tomorrow before work.
I know virtually nothing about Blogger, web design, or coding, but with ChatGPT as my creative companion and technical guide, I'm learning as I go and am proud of what I've been able to create, even though it's still in its infancy. When it takes you two hours to figure out how to change the link colors in your navigation bar, that says a lot.
I have a long, long, long list of a million things I want to be able to wave a wand and poof into place, but some things have to be done the "human" way, and this is a long journey of creation I'm on.
